EMERGE: launch of project activities under the Interreg South Adriatic Programme

he activities of the EMERGE project, funded under the Interreg South Adriatic Programme, have officially started, with IEI among the project partners.

The project has entered its initial phase with the implementation of Work Package 1 (WP1), which focuses on environmental risk analysis and programme setup. This phase represents a crucial starting point, as it lays the foundation for the entire project by providing a structured and comprehensive understanding of environmental risks across the partner territories.

During this stage, project partners are working collaboratively to identify and assess the main environmental risks affecting the regions involved. Particular attention is being given to marine and coastal ecosystems, which are increasingly exposed to both natural and anthropogenic pressures.

The activities currently underway include the identification and assessment of environmental risks, the analysis of sector-specific vulnerabilities, and the definition of key priorities for future interregional calls. In parallel, partners are contributing to the development of common standards and evaluation processes, ensuring a coordinated and harmonised approach across all participating regions.

The launch of WP1 marks a significant milestone for the project. By building a solid and shared knowledge base, this phase will support the design and implementation of effective, evidence-based actions. Ultimately, it will contribute to strengthening the capacity of territories to address environmental challenges in a more sustainable and resilient way.
